hip hip hooray 

I know I should say

to think that you’re nearly 

done with diapers 

it’s such a good thing, 

right? 

and yet even while 

I cheer you on 

I find myself 

wishing it all back 

grow, grow, grow 

it’s what you’re meant to do

and I know I’m so lucky 

to see every day of it 

but 

know, know, know 

there’s not a thing about you,

baby, 

that I wouldn’t keep 

just like this 

forever.
