encouragement

Several months ago, before I took my SAT, a friend of mine sent me and several others this collection of verses. Through the months, I've gone back and looked at them, and have sent them to other friends in turn. I love these pieces of Scripture because not only are they beautiful and encouraging, but they are true. These words are not my inventions, they are God's own promises.

I don't know what this season of life is taking you through. But whether it is an upcoming exam, an illness, or a long heart-ache, these words are for you. The King of creation, the Lord of all, the Savior of your soul - He is the greatest encouragement.

Psalm 28:7 - The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy.

Psalm 18:2 - The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.

1 Peter 5:7 - Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.

Psalm 55:22 - Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.

Isaiah 41:10 - So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Philipians 4:6-7 - Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Isaiah 40:29-31 - He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Psalm 109:26-27 - Help me, O Lord my God! Save me because of your unfailing love. Let them see that this is your doing, that you yourself have done it, Lord.

Hebrews 13:5-6 - For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." So we may boldly say: "The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?"

James 1:5 - If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.

Remember, these are not just nice words. These verses are the Word of God, the double-edged and living sword. They are truth, and they are meant to be believed.

What a wonderful God.
