the power of the cross
I'm back in America! Two weeks in Virginia and Tennessee preparing for the TeenPact National Convention. This morning, attending a small Presbyterian church, they sang a song I'd never heard before. It was beautiful and brought me to tears at parts. You can look it up and listen to it, but here are the powerful lyrics.
And oh to see the dawn of the darkest dayChrist on the road to CalvaryTried by sinful men, torn and beatenThen nailed to a cross of wood
This the power of the crossChrist became sin for usTook the blame, bore the wrathWe stand forgiven at the cross
And oh to see the pain written on Your faceBearing the awesome weight of sinAnd every bitter thought, every evil deedCrowning Your bloodstained brow
This the power of the crossChrist became sin for usTook the blame, bore the wrathWe stand forgiven at the cross
And oh to see my name written in the woundsFor through Your suffering I am freeAnd death is crushed to death and life is mine to liveWon through Your selfless love
This the power of the crossSon of God slain for usWhat a life, what a costWe stand forgiven at the cross
This the power of the crossChrist became sin for usHe look the blame, bore the wrathWe stand forgiven at the cross
