image of god
I showed this image to a room full of women this week.
No one said anything at first.
I asked how they felt. They started to share.
Their reactions were visceral, as mine had been. Something in their gut twisted, something pushed tears to their eyes.
It’s not a statement. No one said “THIS is the true God.”
All we felt was just how clearly we’ve always felt so different from God in ways men were not. How it felt sacrilegious to picture God like this, but then again weren’t we made in God’s image too?
It’s not about whether God is male or female. God is neither. Both. More.
But in this image, it’s about who has been told they reflect God, and who has not.
I hope to restore dignity to women who have been separated from the image of God far too long.
