china unit
I had so much fun planning, creating, and teaching our unit on Ancient China over the last month.
I love that they can count in Mandarin and sing children's nursery rhymes.
I love that they can recognize a number of Chinese characters and know their meaning.
I loved getting to take them to the Lan Su Chinese Garden, in Portland's Chinatown, to let them taste the serenity of much of China's heritage.
I loved teaching them a bit of tai chi and letting them stop in silence to connect with themselves and with nature.
I love that they can quote Confucius and the Dao de Jing.
I loved all the crafts we made - block printing with potatoes, silkworm life cycles, fireworks paintings, and some pretty awesome presentation boards.
I love watching them present and be so proud of the facts that wow their audiences.
