becoming mom

it happens all at once

but also little by little 

how strange and simple

the pride of holding my newborn 

for the first time 

but also the pride of hosting a first play date

with kids asking for seconds of 

smoothies with curly straws 

the joy of nursing 

filling that little body with all it needs 

but also the joy of watching them play in the snow

while I ready their hot chocolates

I was the kid

not that long ago 

and here I am now
