prayer for mexico
As I write, I'm getting ready to walk out the door, head to the Portland Airport, and fly to San Diego, where we'll drive down to Rancho Santa Marta in Baja California. For this week we will be helping at the orphanage/school by painting, weeding, or whatever is needed. We'll also get to play a lot with the kids there, the highlight of our week. We've got a lot planned that we hope to do, but we really need to be covered, covered, covered in prayer.
Here are a few of the things that we really need prayer for from the 13th - 19th.
~ Safety. That would be flying, driving, etc. If you haven't been to Mexico, you don't know the risks just from being on the road! People in Mexico are laid-back and easy-going, until they get behind the wheel! Big trucks will pass another car while going around a corner on the edge of a cliff, with a speed of 120 kph (kilometers per hour). ah! But that also includes spiritual safety. Pray that we stand firm against the power and hold that Satan has in Mexico to let the devil know that we are Christians and we are not backing down.
~ Health. Sickness has been Satan's main weapon against us so far. Please pray that those who are not feeling 100% will be completely well, and that none of the rest of the team will catch any of these numerous and varied bugs.
~ Unity. This is the second trip we've taken, but it's a very different group this time. Pray that we can all work together like the body of Christ, get to know each other like the brothers and sisters we are, and minister to the Ranch and the kids as one family. Satan doesn't like that.
~ Boldness. Please pray for all of us, and especially those who haven't done this trip before, to be bold in our faith. Pray that we will step out of our comfort zone, and maybe even run away from it for a mile or so! Whether we're passing out Bible tracts at the airport, doing Bible skits for the kids, or walking around in the town of San Vicente, pray that we won't hit the "snooze" button when we hear God calling us.
~ Memory! That would be for language... we've all taken 1-4 years of Spanish, and we'll be needing to speak in it all week. We are the translators. Prayer that we would have the Holy Spirit's power of language on us would be amazing.
~ Love. Most importantly, pray that we will have love. Love for each other, love for the kids, love for the Mexican police, love for the American TSA, love for each other, and a love for Jesus that surpasses anything we have ever felt, asked or imagined.
Thank you, faithful friends. As brothers and sisters, I ask you to hold us up for this week. And I'll see you when I get back!
