pray.

At the moment, I am in Baja California, Mexico, at Rancho Santa Marta with these amazing people. I am so blessed.

In the past few days, I have done a lot of thinking about prayer. Our Mexico team is always encouraging each other to pray. We discussed the power of prayer in my bible study group. I've read devotionals and Bible passages about prayer.
"The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." James 5:16
"You who answer prayer, to you all people will come." Psalm 65:2
"Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." Romans 12:12
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Philippians 4:6
Prayer should not be underestimated. In our country, in today's age, it's hard to grasp the power of prayer. We know how everything "works," we know how to make things happen, we think we can explain everything. It makes prayer less appealing to us, and that is one of the greatest weaknesses in our society.
But prayer is.... huge. Powerful. Forceful. Preeminent. Supreme. Prevailing. Prayer is bringing a request or praise or simply worship to the very God of the universe, the Jehovah who created the galaxies and who still holds them all in perfect place. Yahweh, who holds our entire lives in the palm of His hand. Prayer is a conversation with... Him.

So now, I ask you to pray. Go to the Father on my behalf, and ask for His blessings and power upon the time we are spending here in Mexico. Please pray that we would be united. Jesus' final prayer for those who would come to believe in Him (us) was a prayer for unity, that the world might know who has sent us. Please pray that we are bold. Pray that we leave this week having shattered the bounds of our comforts zones, and having no regrets. And please pray that we are love. We want to love these orphans like Jesus first loved us. But we need Jesus' power to do it.
Please pray. Don't just read this, but truly bring these requests before the throne of God. He has promised us that He is faithful.

  1. My family and I are praying for you! Micah gave us a copy of that picture of your team and it's on our fridge. I look forward to reading about what God did when you were down there, and what your thoughts are when you come back! :)
