solid rock
I attended Re:Generation, a young adults group at New Life Church, for the 2nd time tonight. The time of worship together was beautiful because I forgot about what was going on around me, and was finally able to focus on Jesus alone. While that focus brought up some hard realizations, like how little time I've devoted to Jesus lately, it was also such a great source of comfort and adoration. I was reminded that no matter what I go through, no matter how much I fail, no matter how often I think I'm good enough, I will still be on the solid foundation of my salvation through Jesus' blood. That salvation is a solid rock. The lyrics to this hymn are so beautiful, and singing them tonight was providential.
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name.
On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.
On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.
On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
What Rock are you standing on? If you are not founded and anchored on the rock of Jesus' blood, you are in sinking sand. But His hand is ready and waiting to pull you out. Will you take His offering?
