reading plans

In this one month before I head to college, I wanted to read something intentional in the Bible. I don't quite have the time to commit to reading the entire Bible in 30 days, though that's something I very much want to do. But for this month, I decided to plan out a mini through-the-Bible plan, just to get a taste of some of my favorite highlights. I had recently read Genesis-Numbers and Psalms, so I didn't need to hit those. This is my August-September 30 day plan, beginning this past Friday. You're welcome to join in if you don't have a reading plan either! From my experience thus far, the reading shouldn't take more than a comfortable 20-30 minutes per day, and you can add prayer and other meditation around it!

August 7th-17th - 6 chapters of Isaiah each day

August 18th-19th - 7 chapters of Hosea each day

August 20th - Joel and Malachi

August 21st-25th - 6 chapters of Luke each day

August 26th-28th - 7 chapters of John each day

August 29th - Sept. 1st - 7 chapters of Acts each day

September 2nd-4th - 5 chapters of Romans each day

September 5th - Ephesians

September 6th-8th - 7 chapters of Revelation each day

From my reading thus far, here is one of my favorites from Isaiah 9:

 The people who walked in darkness
    have seen a great light;
those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness,
    on them has light shone.
You have multiplied the nation;
    you have increased its joy;
they rejoice before you
    as with joy at the harvest,
    as they are glad when they divide the spoil.
For the yoke of his burden,
    and the staff for his shoulder,
    the rod of his oppressor,
    you have broken as on the day of Midian.
For every boot of the tramping warrior in battle tumult
    and every garment rolled in blood
    will be burned as fuel for the fire.
For to us a child is born,
    to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon[d] his shoulder,
    and his name shall be called[e]
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and of peace
    there will be no end,
on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
    to establish it and to uphold it
with justice and with righteousness
    from this time forth and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.
