prayers answered
This will be short, but it's a brief encouragement to pray.
At church on New Years' Day, we were encouraged to seek God for more. Alex, the teacher that day, told us about George Mueller, a man who ran a huge orphanage in England, providing for thousands of orphans without ever asking for donations. He kept a journal of prayer requests, leaving a column to write when they were answered. Apparently, out of around 50,000 prayer requests, 30,000 of them were answered in the same hour or day. I was inspired to really take my requests to God more, to really believe Him when He says to "Ask, and it will be given to you; Seek, and you will find; Knock, and the doors will be opened to you."
So last week I took a little notebook and started something similar. I wrote down a lot of things I need, big and small, and will leave the parallel column blank until He answers. Maybe some of them will never be answered. But I want to remember the ways God does answer and is faithful.
Out of about 20 requests this week, maybe 5 have been answered. Some are small, like having a good meeting. Some are bigger, like healing. Most of all, I'm grateful that I will be able to look back on these and remember what God has done.
I'd encourage you to try it, really ask God for the desires of your heart as you simultaneously ask Him to give you the desires of His heart. He wants us to come and be with Him.
