body to shelby

hey there it’s me,
your own dear body

we’ve talked some before
but I feel a little ignored

I keep sending you signs
But you don’t hear most times

To the pain in your neck
You just say “What the heck”

You don’t give us a rest
Maybe handle the stress

I don’t think you realize
I’m more than you theorize

I’m not a bystander
in your visions of grandeur

I’m not just a case
That gets you place to place

‘Cuz I’ve always been here
Every joy, every fear

From before you could do
What you think makes you, you

On the days you’re not sure
What you’re even here for

Maybe just stop and feel
What is means to be real

Maybe see me with pride
Not your critical side

Maybe treat me with care
And no need to compare

Maybe listen, and find
You are more than your mind

Not an imprisoned soul
No, and this my goal
This is my sacred role
To teach you to be whole
