In the conversation around women's rights, many women feel that their anger is used as argument against them, as if by being told "You seem angry," the argument is invalidated. But sometimes anger is the right response to injustice.

yes I’m angry and here’s why because my sister fears for her life in a parking lot because my sister thinks somehow it’s her fault because my sister is told her body isn’t good enough because my sister is cat-called regularly because my sister knows it’s foolish to travel alone and because my sister has been told this is normal yes I’m angry because history has hidden us through illiteracy slavery infanticide objectification polygamy gender roles sound fine until you tell me what’s mine and it’s to follow respect listen submit support
why do we have to fight for ourselves? why don’t you want us as pastors or presidents or professors

yes I’m angry because my sisters are aborted in China because my sisters are covered in Saudi Arabia because my sisters are sold for sex in America
because systematic silencing and intentional injustice has left so many sisters enslaved illiterate uneducated hidden objectified dead abused afraid when I know my sisters are powerful brilliant passionate innovative loving bold equal human
so yes I’m angry and if you’re not maybe you’re the one who isn’t keeping things in perspective
