consequences: a poem

 

“Ideas have consequences” 

I was told 

And warned with terrible 

tales of old 

But never once 

was brought to fore 

The dear ideas 

by which we swore 

“Don’t waste your life”

Was taught to me

“Live only for 

Eternity”

But never did 

I realize 

I gave up my

One precious life
