Biblical texts have influenced Western culture both inside and outside the Christian and Jewish religions. Despite this influence, there is little attention to how the Bible’s inherently patriarchal culture shapes how we see women.  How does a Bible written entirely by men impact our value of women? How do the many nameless and missing women of the Bible’s stories affect our perception of women today? Is it possible to keep the Bible and not the patriarchy inherent to it? In this video produced by me and the SecretArtProject.com team, I discuss how to address Scripture’s complicated portrayal of women in a way that honors and challenges the Bible.
