feeling their baby

This to me is one of those pictures that says a thousand words.

Those words would be ones that tell of the uncertainty before telling the girls we were expecting: wondering how they would feel, unsure how to help them feel connected to this baby coming a different way than they did.

They would be words telling of the excitement in their eyes, the ideas flooding their minds, the anticipation apparent in every sweet comment about their baby.

Words telling about how they loved going through baby clothes, walking down the baby aisle of the grocery store telling me what they want to feed it, finding old baby toys in their toy bins and excitedly telling me to save them for the baby.

And maybe, just maybe, enough words to capture the awe and wonder across Lucy’s face every time she felt the baby kick. (Zinni will finally feel it sometime soon, I’m sure!)

We have many bridges to cross, many transitions to make, many uncertainties ahead. But every day makes me a little less afraid and a little more excited. There is so much love to go around, and these three siblings will share it all.
